Carcassi Study no. 7
is the Director of Education for the Guitar Foundation of America, Director of the Celedonio Romero Guitar Institute and is the Instructor of Guitar at Oklahoma City University. Pepe Romero has said, "What José Antonio Abreu is to El Sistema, Matt Denman is to the Celedonio Romero Guitar Institute." For eight years Matthew was also on faculty for Classen School of Advanced Studies where he teaches music theory, international baccalaureate music, and the national award winning guitar program. Awards include the GFA award for excellence in guitar education 2013, the Images of Excellence Award (2014, 2013, 2012, 2010, 2009), and Teacher of the Year (2010-2011 Classen SAS). Matthew has been a guest lecturer, clinician, and performer throughout the United States.
In this video Matthew Denman interviews Susan Gabbard, Director of Fine Arts for Oklahoma City Public Schools, about several topics including the growth of guitar programs in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Gabbard explains how it became her dream for every OKC secondary school to have a guitar program. The video concludes with a short snippet of the OKCPS All City Guitar Event.
